WASHINGTON – The idea of jumping off a boat and grabbing onto a whale shark to go for a ride is not something most people would do.

But Chris Kreis, 19, of Fort Myers, Fla., views the massive creatures as “gentle giants,” so when he saw a whale shark off Captiva Island, Fla., he took the dive and went for a ride.
