Tornado reported in Montgomery County

WASHINGTON – The National Weather Service says a tornado has been reported in Montgomery County, just north of Washington.

The agency says it was confirmed by county officials shortly before 4 p.m. Thursday near Colesville or Olney.

There have been no reports of damage.

The Montgomery County emergency management office says a tornado report was called in by a fire and rescue service near the intersection of Georgia Avenue and Norbeck Road in the Aspen Hill area.

That’s a heavily populated suburban area.

Operations Chief Chuck Crisostomo says crews are waiting for the weather to clear before checking for damage.
