Avoid Wisconsin Avenue This Afternoon

Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, Flickr pool photo by AmyMarieMoorePresident Barack Obama is visiting troops at Walter Reed today, which means it’s possible the road will be shut down during your evening commute.

The Washington Post reported a one-mile stretch of Wisconsin Avenue/Rockville Pike between Cedar Lane and Battery Lane will be closed until about 6 p.m. today.

Obama’s official White House schedule has him leaving his visit at 4:35 p.m.

Head to East-West Highway, Old Georgetown Road or Jones Bridge Road to avoid the road. Better yet, head to Bradley Boulevard and River Road to avoid potential traffic. As of 3:15 p.m., the road was still open.

A Montgomery County Police spokesperson said the Department can not confirm any information about a road closure for Obama’s visit.
