Fairfax officers return to duty after April shooting

WASHINGTON – Three Fairfax County police officers have been cleared of any criminal wrongdoing in the shooting of a man in Alexandria last month.

Commonwealth’s Attorney Ray Morrough says the officers were not criminally liable for shooting and injuring 37-year-old Maxwell S. Eisenman on April 9.

Police say he turned a gun on them. But investigators later determined that the gun was a fake. Police say it was a replica of a semi-automatic handgun.

Eisenman has been charged with assaulting a police officer. He remains in the hospital in stable condition.

All three officers will return to patrol duty.
