WASHINGTON – Wounded warriors traveling through airport security lines can expect an expedited screening, according to the Transportation Security Administration.

TSA agents will start offering faster screening to severely injured members of the U.S. Armed Forces at Ronald Reagan Washington National, Dulles International and Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall airports.

Wounded Warriors are entitled to curb-to-gate service, as well as the ability to go through a security check without having to remove their shoes, light jackets or hats, according to a TSA news release.

“In recognition of the sacrifices of our men and women in uniform, we have revised our screening requirements to allow expedited screening for this trusted group of citizens,” TSA’s Deputy Administrator and veteran John Halinski said in the release.

The program went into effect at every airport nationwide Wednesday, the TSA release says.

To be eligible for the service, the TSA suggests Wounded Warriors email the Military Severely Injured Joint Services Operations Center at MSIJSOC@dhs.gov or call 1-888-262-2396 with itinerary information for the traveling party.

Those traveling with a Wounded Warrior will receive standard screening.
