Md. student, 15, killed while crossing road to school

WASHINGTON – A 15-year-old student was killed Wednesday morning after she was hit by a vehicle when attempting to cross Route 118. It is believed she was on her way to school, Montgomery County police say.

The victim, Christina Morris-Ward, of Germantown, Md., was a sophomore at Seneca Valley High School. Morris-Ward was hit by a 2010 Ford Fusion traveling in the northbound lanes just before 7 a.m.

Morris-Ward was transported to a local hospital where she died.

The driver is identified as Kevin Carlson, 27, of Germantown. Police say Carlson had a green signal when he was driving.
