Old-school typewriters meet 21st century computers (VIDEO)

WASHINGTON – Typewriters are not yet dead, thanks to DIY, hackers and open sourcing.

Engineer hipster Jack Zylkin has used these three tools to resurrect a seemingly archaic piece of technology. Of course, he sells the typewriters compatible with 21st century computing devices, such as iPads, on Etsy.com.

This project has been possible, he says, thanks to this do-it-yourself approach, publicizing procedures that are open to all and a group of partners that is trying to reclaim “hacker” from the negative connotation of thieves and vandals.
