Glen Echo wants a first – a stop sign camera

WASHINGTON – Glen Echo wants to have Maryland’s first stop sign camera.

It would go at the intersection of University Avenue and Oxford Road.

About 200,000 cars drive through the intersection every year, and Mayor Debbie Beers says more than 80 percent of drivers ignore the stop sign.

Maryland law does not allow stop sign camera, so Beers wants to bring the issue to the General Assembly, according to The Examiner.
