Pedestrian struck on I-66

CENTREVILLE, Va. – A pedestrian sustained life-threatening injuries after being struck by a vehicle on eastbound Interstate 66 Tuesday morning, according to Virginia State Police.

The pedestrian was taken to Fairfax Inova Hospital in critical condition after the 7 a.m. accident.

The accident shut down the eastbound interstate before the Fairfax County Parkway.

Police then diverted traffic from I-66 to northbound Route 28.

Around 8:05 a.m. police reopened two left lanes before the Fairfax County Parkway.

A Fairfax County Fire and EMS spokesperson says a total of three people were taken to the hospital.
