Verizon outage affects long distance calls

WASHINGTON – Verizon phone service returned on Monday afternoon after an earlier outage left some customers unable to make long distance calls.

The company was doing maintenance on lines that affected a voice switch. Customers in northern Virginia and D.C. got a fast busy signal when attempting to make long distance calls.

Verizon says the issue has been fixed and everyone should have had their long distance service back.

Anyone still without service should call 1-800-VERIZON.
