LightSquared Inc. on Friday called a Federal Communications Commission decision to block its proposed wireless network “legally unprecedented” and laid out several alternatives to outright rejection.

In an FCC filing and accompanying press release, the Reston-based telecom startup pressed its argument against the February ruling.

Among its suggestions to the FCC: making the GPS industry pay for fixes to their devices that would prevent interference with LightSquared’s network and working with the National Telecommunications and Information Administration to “develop spectrum solutions” that would allow the company to launch in another band – much like it’s doing in the 2 GHz band.
