3.1-mag. shakes Va.; roughly 100th since last summer

WASHINGTON – A magnitude 3.1 earthquake struck just outside Mineral, Va. late Sunday night.

WTOP listeners say they felt the earthquake in Orange and Spotsylvania counties. Mineral is home to the North Anna Nuclear Generating Station.

There have been dozens of aftershocks, the Associated Press reports.

Lamont James was watching TV with his wife in their home in Spotsylvania County when they felt the shaking. He came out of his house and saw his neighbor, he says, who confirmed he also felt the tremor.
