Lights back on: 5,000 Va. lost power

WASHINGTON – Dominion Power says all of its customers got their lights back on just before midnight Thursday. Just after 10 p.m., five thousand customers were without electricity.

The outages were mainly concentrated in the Reston area.

The number of customers affected went down considerably to 1,800 after 11 p.m.

The company initially estimated customers would get their electricity back on by 3 or 4 Friday morning. The company is not reporting what caused the outage.

BGE also reported 700 outages in the Columbia area Thursday night.
