All clear following Arlington bomb threat, school bus routes back to normal

UPDATE:

WASHINGTON – School bus routes are back to operating on normal schedules and the bomb squad has given the all clear at the Sheraton National Hotel.

WASHINGTON – Schools and traffic are impacted Tuesday afternoon due to a bomb threat at the Sheraton National Hotel in Arlington.

School buses on several routes in Arlington County are on hold right now.

The schools affected:

  • Long Branch Elementary
  • Hoffman -Boston Elementary
  • Glebe Elementary
  • Washington Lee High School
  • Jefferson Middle School
  • Key Elementary
  • Gunston Elementary

Arlington County Police say around 1:40 p.m. the hotel received a call about a bomb on the street level.

The hotel was evacuated and the bomb squad has cleared the area. They haven’t found anything to indicate the threat was legitimate.

The bomb squad is still on the scene and police are warning commuters to expect delays through the rush hour on Columbia Pike from Washington Boulevard to S. Hayes Street.

Virginia State Police and Pentagon Police are also on the scene and providing support.
