LaHood honks when drivers talk or text: Drivers who talk or text on their cellphones may hear from the Secretary of Transportation in a very personal way. “What I’ve been doing is kind of honking at somebody if I see him on a cellphone.” http://bit.ly/w9n52R

Md. lawmakers push seat belts for all passengers: Two Maryland lawmakers are pushing legislation that would require every person riding in a car to wear a seat belt. While all drivers in the area are required to buckle up, Virginia and Maryland do not currently require passengers in the back seat to wear seat belts. http://bit.ly/wrIOrX

Prospects not good for eagle rescued near Va. Metro station: The injured bald eagle was recovered on Metro’s Blue Line tracks near the Van Dorn station with one-third of its left wing sheared off. http://bit.ly/wEH42b

Va. woman fined for faking cancer: A suburban Richmond woman has been fined $50 after admitting she faked cancer to raise money. The Mechanicsville woman had claimed at rallies that she was a cancer victim. http://bit.ly/wJPOcG

Riders unhappy with Metro’s planned fare hike speak up: It will cost you more to ride Metro trains and buses starting July 1 if the transit system’s leaders get their way. http://bit.ly/A4t6JZ
