One person suffers serious injuries in D.C. high-rise apartment fire

WASHINGTON – One person was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries on Monday after a fire at a high-rise apartment building in the District.

The broke out in the basement of the building on the 2300 block of Good Hope Road in Southeast.

D.C. Fire and EMS spokesman Lon Walls says the fire rose to the second floor.

The flames have been knocked down and the building evacuated, but at last check there was still a lot of smoke in that crews were working to contain.
