New Carrollton police make arrest in non-fatal shooting

WASHINGTON – Police have arrested a 19-year-old Landover Hills man in connection with a non-fatal shooting that occurred last week.

Around 7:40 p.m. on Feb.10 New Carrollton Police officers were monitoring a memorial vigil in the 5200 block of 85th Avenue for the Feb. 6 murder of Chris Smith when they heard a gunshot.

The crowd began to disperse quickly and police found an adult male suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.

The victim was taken to an area hosiptal with non-life threatening injuries.

As a result of an investigation, police arrested Antione Freeman on Feb. 11. He is being charged with attempted first degree murder.

Freeman, a resident of Landover Hills, is being held with no bond status.
