WASHINGTON – No one was injured when a fire broke out in a Silver Spring Shop Rite on Tuesday night.
The fire, on the 12600 block of Cherry Hill Road, prompted evacuation of the Shop Rite and the Kohl’s clothing store located next door around 8 p.m., authorities say.
About 55 firefighters responded to the fire, which was extinguished largely by the store sprinkler system.
The Shop Rite will remain closed throughout Tuesday and into Wednesday while health inspectors determine its safety.
