Don’t wait: Valentine’s Day reservations are quickly filling up

WASHINGTON – Valentine’s Day is right around the corner and unless you’re an early bird or a night owl, options for a romantic evening out might be quickly running out.

Even though the holiday is still a week away, many of the area’s finer restaurants are already booked up for Valentine’s Day and the days leading up to it.

As of this afternoon, Plume at the Jefferson Hotel had a lone Valentine’s reservation available at 9:45 p.m.

At CityZen, there are no tables available on Valentine’s Day or on this coming Saturday.

Plume did have tables available on Saturday, but only before 6 p.m or after 9 p.m.

More options become available If you’re willing to move your romantic evening up to Friday, though a 7 p.m. seating is still hard to come by.

A search of the priciest restaurants on OpenTable turned up 19 available tables for a 7 p.m. reservation this Friday. Only 10 are available for the same time on Saturday, and that number goes down to just 3 on Valentine’s Day.

On an average day, about 20 to 30 of the area’s most expensive restaurants have tables available at 7.
