Md. man arrested for attempted murder, kidnapping

WASHINGTON – A 24-year-old man has been arrested in connection with an attempted murder and kidnapping in Gaithersburg.

Quinnton Brown is charged with attempted first degree murder, kidnapping, robbery and several other charges related to the use of a firearm in a violent crime. He is being held on a $1 million bond.

Authorities allege Brown and at least one other suspect kidnapped a 31-year-old Germantown man on the morning of Jan. 22. The suspects forced the victim into a car at gunpoint, and drove the man to an ATM machine, where he was forced to withdraw an undisclosed amount of money.

The suspects then drove the victim to a wooded area on Game Preserve Road in Gaithersburg and a brawl ensued. The victim tried to flee, but was shot. He feigned injury and the suspects fled the scene.

The victim only suffered minor scratches.

Authorities say Brown and the victim knew each other. Brown was eventually tracked down and arrested in York, Pa. An extradition hearing will be held on Feb. 15.

Detectives are continuing to hunt for other suspects. Anyone with information should call Montgomery County police at 240-773-6237.
