WASHINGTON – Fifty years. That’s how long broadcaster Mac McGarry hosted the high school quiz show “It’s Academic” on Channel 4.

The show set a Guinness World Record for longest-running quiz show on TV.

McGarry, who hosted the show since its launch in 1961, recently retired and handed over hosting duties to WTOP’s own Hillary Howard.

McGarry, who’s 85, still watches from home and will make a special appearance on tomorrow’s program.

You can watch on Saturday at 10 a.m. on Channel 4.
