WASHINGTON – Is this the year that corporate layoffs come home to roost?
Some economists predict 2012 will be the year of the payback, where all the recent slashing of the workforce comes back to hurt companies.
They say workers could become less productive, less motivated and less engaged.
They also warn that talented workers could jump ship to rival companies if they’re not offered incentives to stay.
There’s been a spike in the number of Americans quitting their jobs since the recession began in December 2007, according to Forbes.
