Incumbents reign in local Md. elections

WASHINGTON – Incumbent Rockville Mayor Phyllis Marcuccio has retained her seat.

Marcuccio was challenged by Piotr Gajewski. The incumbent won with 52 percent of the vote, according to unofficial results on Rockville’s website.

Four candidates – John F. Hall Jr., Tom Moore, Bridget Newton and Mark Pierzchala – were elected to Rockville city council.

In Gaithersburg, Ryan Spiegel, Jud Ashman and Cathy Drzyzgula were reelected to the Gaithesburg City Council during elections held at six polling sites.

In Bowie, all seven incumbents, including Mayor G. Frederick Robinson, won their election bids.

In Takoma Park, incumbent Mayor Bruce Williams won his reelection bid, along with members of council in Ward 4 and 5. Seth Grimes won election in Ward 1, filling the open seat vacated by Josh Wright.
