FALLS CHURCH, Va. — Hundreds packed a Northern Virginia church to remember the life of a man who police say was targeted for murder.
He served as groomsman and best man at their weddings, but on Tuesday, Jason Torchinsky and Jonas Geissler served as pallbearers for their friend, 32-year-old Robert Wone.
“Today was about remembering the life of a great person and a great human being and someone we’re all going to deeply miss,” Torchinsky says.
Wone, who lived in Oakton with his wife, was murdered in the District on Aug. 2. He was killed with a kitchen knife in the Swann Street home of a friend.
Wone’s wife is “demonstrating remarkable strength and her family is around her,” Geissler says.
Police believe Wone, an attorney with Radio Free Asia, was specifically targeted, but have not elaborated.
There have been no arrests in the case. Police are offering a $25,000 reward for his killer’s arrest and conviction.
